"Ficus Tremens" - Poncione di Ruino (Val Bedretto, CH)

Always bring a proper camera..
Ski & Climb in April with Andrea in Val Bedretto.
We leave early in the morning for a "half-day tour" (these were Andrea's words). After a couple of hours in the car we take our skies and climbing stuff and we start hiking up towards the Capanna CAS Piansecco. Finally we put our skies on for some advanced "ski touring on mixed terrain" (i.e. snow and grass).

The first pitch (6c+) is half-buried under the snow, thank God. But anyhow the second half is still challenging and not exactly an ideal warm-up.
The second pitch (6b+) is not very difficult, except for the first 3 meters, quite tough. I even try to fly the drone, however for some reasons (maybe wind? or a software problem?) it was very, very difficult to control it and especially to bring it back.. In several occasions I got afraid that the drone would fly (or fall) down to the base of the wall on his own..
The third pitch is an amazing 7a+ along a beautiful, overhanging crack with a delicate traverse at the end. Difficult, exhausting, hard. We struggle. At the end of this pitch, we decide to skip the next two (one is too easy, the last one too difficult) and we rappel down.
Not satisfied, we climb the first amazing pitch (6c+) of the route "Danielli-Pohl", a tiny, long crack that requires delicate, elegant steps.
We then put back on our skies and rapidly descend towards the car: somehow we even manage to enjoy the ride! Finally we drive back and reach Zürich at around 20, after another great half-day tour.
Climbing "Herbstwind" - Klausenpass (CH)

How to get there
From the Klausenpass hotel just go up towards the wall (follow a path at the beginning, then just go straight up). 30 min or so.
General description
- Bolted, generally well-protected.
- Belay stations equipped with a ring for rappelling
- Wall facing south. However when we go there it was still partly in the shade, therefore the first pitch was for us cold and difficult!
- Rock is generally good, maybe a bit worse in the last pitches
- Very nice route. First pitch hard, then totally doable.
- Descent rappelling along the wall. Easy and quick.
Pitch-by-pitch
- Hard! 6c+ or so. The rock was cold, we struggled. With a proper "warm up" it would have been fine and fun - I guess. Andrea leads.
- 6b, not really difficult. It was just a bit complicated to "read" the rock and find good holds. Still Andrea.
- 6b, a bit more interesting. My turn. I end up at a belay station a few meters on the left of the "right" one and when Andrea reaches me and notices the mistake he pronounces the sentence of the day "Ci siamo giocati la via" ("We fucked up the entire route" - simply because we had to spend 5 minutes extra traversing to the "right" belay station)
- 6b, nice pitch. Andrea leads.
- 6a+, my turn. Not difficult, with a nice step at the end.
- 6b+, Andrea. First part very easy, then one step a bit harder a few meters under the belay station.
Romanzo Criminale

La storia di un'Italia difficile, intricata, violenta, criminale. Di cui sappiamo cosi' poco, nonostante ci abbia segnato cosi' tanto. Di cui forse non sapremo mai tutto.
Identità e autostima

E incomincia ad incrinarsi anche l'identità (...). L'identità non è qualcosa che avete per natura o per cultura, l'identità è un dono sociale: il concetto che io ho di me lo devo a coloro che mi hanno riconosciuto. Me la da un altro l'identità: se una mamma dice al suo bambino "sei bravo" e lo dice anche la sua maestra, si costruisce un'identità positiva (...).
E non solo da piccoli, ma anche da grande. (...) Quelli che sono negli apparati puntano alla carriera, perché se vanno avanti c'è un rafforzamento di identità, se vanno indietro c'è un indebolimento dell'identità.

Gran bella giornata con Giuseppe, Valeria e Laura.
Attacchiamo presto ma non troppo e ci godiamo la via grazie alle nuvole che offuscano il sole ed evitano cosi' di farci arrostire in parete. In effetti eravamo consci delle condizioni meteo (pioggia prevista alle 15) e per questo abbiamo scelto questa destinazione nonostante l'estate ormai alle porte.
Via molto bella, quasi sempre continua nelle difficoltà, attrezzata con qualche spit nei punti meno proteggibili. Numerosissimi i cordoni in via (su clessidre), quasi superflui nuts e friends. Soste attrezzate con anche anelli di calata.
Tiro per tiro:
- Qualche metro un po' piu' difficile, poi facile fino in sosta
- Bellissimo camino, non difficile e di puro piacere
- Placca un po' piu' difficile
- Bel tiro, non facilissimo: salire obliquando a sinistra, poi muretto e traverso a sinistra non banalissimo. Forse il tiro piu' impegnativo (ma non troppo).
- Bella (ma corta) fessura in stile misto-Dulfer, poi facile
- Placca, bella
- Continuazione della placca, piu' facile
- Traverso su sentiero/cengia, 15 metri verso destra
- Bel tiro: muretto iniziale, poi ancora qualche bel passaggio mai troppo difficile. Si arriva cosi' nel bosco soprastante, sosta su pianta.
Discesa seguendo il sentiero verso destra fino ad un terrazzino. Prima breve calata, poi discesa per bosco ripido, poi due calate (40 + 50 mt). La seconda quasi interamente nel vuoto! Al termine della seconda calata bisogna spingersi leggermente per raggiungere l'avancorpo separato di qualche metro dalla parate. Non difficile, ma sicuramente non un passo che capita tutti i giorni!
